Ntokoziso Matshazi, Gwanda Pirates' new signing from Adachi FC, scored the decisive goal. Matshazi's impressive finish came after receiving a perfectly weighted pass from fellow new signing Lindsey a Chimanimani bred utility player. The goal showcased Matshazi's skill and composure in front of goal as he managed to hold the ball; push it not once but twice; looking up and picking up a spot before beating the Tongogara goalie all systems out.
Coach Johannes "Tshisa" Ngodzo's tactical acumen was on display, as his second-half substitutions made a significant impact on the game. The introduction of Lindsey and Matshazi added fresh impetus to the team, ultimately leading to the winning goal.
Gwanda Pirates' goalkeeper and captain, Themba Moyo, continued his outstanding form, extending his clean sheet record to 100% in the second round. This adds up to a 12th clean sheet this season for the skipper with the team conceding only in 6 matches.Moyo's exceptional performance has been a key factor in Gwanda Pirates' victory.
In the post-match interview, Coach Ngodzo expressed his confidence in the team's title aspirations. "I am born a winner; I have been doing this, all my life and with the mentality at Gwanda Pirates, I still have hopes that the title is not gone yet." Despite trailing log leaders Sheasham FC and second-placed Hardrock FC, Ngodzo remains optimistic about the team's chances.
